This week has been full of exciting things! The Marine Corps Ball was on Wednesday; David and I had a pretty good time, despite his not feeling well. On Thursday I got a glucose test, which was not fun. Between 24 and 28 weeks, pregnant women get a glucose test to determine if they have/may have gestational diabetes. I had to drink this horrible, sugary fruit punch tasting drink, and wait an hour to get my blood drawn. Little David really enjoyed it; he was kicking up a storm. I, on the other hand, had to listen to another woman's child scream and throw a tantrum. For an hour. It was all I could do not to get up and leave. Afterward, David and I trudged upstairs for my H1N1 shot.On Friday we went out bowling with a few friends. It struck me that the 9 pound ball I was bowling with had pretty much taken up residence in my stomach. I'm having these small revelations every so often, and am pretty shocked at what is happening inside my ever expanding belly. It is such an interesting, weird, perfect, wonderful thing taking place, and I never imagined it being this way. I always thought being pregnant was more glamorous, and less of a miracle. I guess you never appreciate the actual act of being pregnant until it happens to you.
I am still having very few symptoms. Heart burn is starting to bother me, and I am starting to have trouble breathing in certain positions. I can no longer curl up on the couch without having trouble taking a deep breath. I have also been waking up in the middle of the night to change positions because I am uncomfortable or blood has stopped circulating to an area of my arms or legs. Normally you would just move, but it has been waking me up. Last night I woke up to my entire left leg feeling like an elephant sat on it.
Something exciting this past week - I can see little David kick from the outside! He is not big enough to actually see the imprint of a foot or hand, but you can see my belly shift, jiggle, and move when he moves. David got to see it as well, and he has been able to feel the baby kick more often. He is also starting to connect more with the baby; I find him resting his hand on my tummy whenever he has the chance. :)
Thanksgiving is on Thursday, and David and I are having around 7 people come over. I am excited to cook, hang out, and eat. maybe I can get some good pictures to post next week. Here is a cute picture of David and Cocojin watching football. I think Cocojin is excited about Thanksgiving. Yesterday after shopping, he tried to make off to the garage with a package of cranberries. Today, I caught him racing up the stairs with a package of marshmallows, trying to make it under the bed before I saw him. He is such a great cat on most days, but sometimes he just likes to get into trouble. Yesterday he was pulling out packs of travel tissues from a bin in the entertainment stand. I just have to shake my head and hope that David and I can raise a child better than we can raise a cat :).Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
