Hello Again.

I have started a few posts in the last few days, only to stop. The reasons vary from DJ, to needing to cook dinner, to trying to not blog about what is really on my mind.

What do I mean by that? What is on my mind?

Osama Bin Laden is dead.

I always cringe when something huge happens in the political/world news. That means my face book news feed will be scattered with status updates about whatever topic. Which also means that arguments will ensue. I stayed mostly quiet on the subject, only saying that I found it disconcerting that people feel the need to berate others for their opinions.

I saw quite a few reactions:
 - Take that! America RULES! Osama is DEAD! HA! We win!
- So glad to see that justice has finally been done.
- Wish I could have been the one to kill Osama.
- President Obama is THE BEST.
- This doesn't change anything, our Military is still deployed.
- What now?
- I am praying for Osama's family. What a horrible way to lose a loved one.
- God Bless our Troops!
- Who cares?

As you can see, the reactions were all over the board. And, of course, almost every status update I saw had one person disagreeing with the poster's opinion.

My opinion? Doesn't really matter. I choose to keep what I think to myself in this situation.

HOWEVER.

I will say that I am a little taken aback by the way some people are acting in the aftermath of Osama's death. While I wholeheartedly agree that what Osama did to our Country was wrong, I think people are taking their celebrations too far.

Some might say I didn't lose someone in 9/11, so I can not understand the importance of Osama's death, and the justice that has been served. My answer is that I have sacrificed a lot because of that day. I am a Military spouse. One of the many in the silent ranks. I have seen my Husband off to war TWICE. Twice he has gone to support the quest for justice that so many people yearned for. So while I may not have lost a loved one, I live with the repercussions of 9/11 every day.

We all lead different lives, therefore we all have different opinions on everything. I will respect your opinion, and in return I ask you to respect mine.

What do you think about Osama's death and the American reaction?

P.S. Today is Military Spouse Appreciation Day. Look for a post later today or tomorrow about Military Spouses!

  1. I wish he hadn't died. I don't think justice has been served. I wish that he had been captured alive to answer for what he did. There is no punishment after death. I would have rather been able to bring him here and ask him questions about the other people involved. In my opinion death was too good for him and now we will be waiting for retailiation ( or however you spell that!)
