Friday marked the start of week 15! Overall, the week was pretty good. As far as symptoms go, I was really tired the entire week. It might be because my work schedule was so crazy, and I wasn't following the normal routine.
Thursday I got a call to work down by the airport. I had to take David's car because he has been taking mine to work on the days I am supposed to be off. His command has come out with a new rule that if your car is dirty (inside or out, I assume), you will have Battalion duty. David has decided he is not going to wash or clean his car because he thinks the rule is stupid. I don't know if it was something I ate, the leather tree car freshener hanging from the rear view mirror, or the baby deciding she wanted to make me miserable, but I got sick on the way home. I was SO glad my husband keeps his car well stocked with old bottles, cups, and grocery bags, or else there would have been trouble.
I am still having a lot of "growing pains", and am having trouble with quick changes in position. I was sitting on the couch the other day and the cat jumped up on the table and almost knocked a soda down onto the couch. I jumped up really fast to catch the soda can, and felt like I got punched in the stomach. So no getting up fast or changing sleeping positions too quickly for me.
How the baby is growing this week (according to babycenter.com)
The baby is the size of an apple this week, and is moving amniotic fluid through her body in an effort to help her lungs develop. Her legs are growing more than her arms, and she can move all of her joints. The baby's eyelids are still fused shut, but she can detect light. If I was to shine a flashlight on my tummy, she would likely move away from it. A good ultrasound could reveal what sex the baby is, but it depends on the experience of the tech and what position the baby is in.
I always refer to the baby as a she, because it annoys David. Who, right now, is on the floor playing with the cat. He thinks it's the funniest thing in the world to scare the poor thing! We are both hoping for a boy, but think that it is going to be a girl. Everyone in David's MOS (his Marine Corps job) has girls because the radio waves kill off the majority of the Y sperm. Which, of course, leaves us with a higher chance of conceiving a girl. Either way we will both be happy. If we have a girl, I think David is concerned with what he will have to deal with in 13 years or so. :)
My next prenatal appointment is on September 28th, which is a Monday. The appointment is for the Down Syndrome test. I decided to get the test so that in the event something is wrong with the baby, David and I could be prepared for it. I would never consider termination of the pregnancy if the test came back as positive. I just want to be able to give my child the best life possible, and feel that being prepared is the best way to do that.
Yesterday, David and I had a game night with some friends. It was fun, and people are definitely starting to notice the bump. I feel like I got home from work yesterday, showered, and grew about 2 inches in the tummy! I have not gained any weight this far, but I'm not too concerned. I eat when I'm hungry, and try to eat things that are healthy for both the baby and me. I do have one weakness though - McDonald's Southwestern chicken salad. Oh my goodness, those things are amazing!
Last, but not least, I thought I felt the baby move a week or so ago, but have not felt anything since, so I'm a little skeptical that's what it was. I know it's going to start happening soon, and I am on the look out for it!
Have a great weekend everyone!
I hope you have a girl so Texas can have a girlfriend. :-)
