Week 16 doesn't officially start until tomorrow, but today is my only chance for some free time to update everyone. This week has been busy, busy, busy. Sunday David and I went to the mall for (insert ominous music) a new bra. I figured buying a nursing bra would be my best bet since I do plan on breastfeeding when the little bean comes, and it will save me money in the long run. Once I got in the store (which David refused to enter with me), the woman working started talking about clogged milk ducts, pain, broken nipples, and certain death. I just took whatever she threw at me, tried it on, and ended up getting a new bra and a sleeping bra. A sleeping bra sounded strange to me; I just wear sports bras to bed. But nooooooooo, a sports bra could break my boobies, and cause excruciating pain! Who would have thought? I felt like a schmuck, caving under all the pressure of what I think was an overzealous saleswoman. On the other hand, if she was right (which my paranoid pregnancy brain is leaning towards) I saved myself from a painful, horrible death. :)
I picked up extra hours with Texas and Love this week, which is fine by me for 2 reasons: more money, and I just plain like them! I did have a scary moment on Tuesday with Texas, though. At lunch he started choking, and by some miracle of God I remembered my CPR/choking training and everything ended up being fine. I was terrified afterwards because I have become extremely attached to Texas. I have helped him learn how to walk, am teaching him how to use a spoon, his colors and shapes, and he has grown so much in the time I have spent with him. I can only imagine how attached I will be to my own child. I have also realized how fast children grow, and hope that I can spend as much time with my little bean as possible. On Wednesday, Love, Texas, and I met Julia, Hannah, and Sophia at restaurant for lunch (I can't remember the name right now). I ate the best polish sausage and french fries of my life. The only draw back is that the restaurant is 45 minutes away, which is a little too far to travel for a craving, lol.
So symptoms this week have been pretty mild. A few growing pains, some light dizziness, bad acne, and BABY MOVEMENT! I have been having sneaking suspicions that some of what I am contributing to gas or even a few growing pains could be the baby squirming around. I was laying in bed last night and felt a kick! It was like a cross between popcorn popping and a thud. I was so excited I nearly peed myself.
How the baby is growing this week (according to babycenter.com)
The baby is the size of an avocado this week. Her eyes and ears are moving closer to their final positions, and she has even started growing toenails. Her heart is pumping about 25 quarts of blood, and her head is starting to become more erect. It is also important to note that every baby grows differently, so these summaries are designed to give a general idea of what is happening.
David and I were lying on the couch the other day, and he put his ear to my tummy to see if he could "hear" the baby. He said it sounded like a goldfish was swimming around in my stomach. It was a cute moment, and it made me tear up a bit. Dang those crazy hormones!
Have a great week everyone!
