Time is flying by, and I am 1 week shy of being halfway through "making" Baby Klutts. It seems like just yesterday, Jen and I were at the Commissary discussing whether or not I should buy a pregnancy test. It seems scary that my pregnancy is going this fast, and I can only imagine how fast my baby's life is going to go by.Life this past week has been pretty busy. Work is great; Texas and I could not be having more fun (unless trash day was every day). Let's see, David went golfing with Bill and Dave last Sunday, sort of a last hurrah before Dave left for Maryland. Julie, Megan, baby Chloe, and I hung out while they were gone. It was a nice, relaxing day to just hang and girl talk. Mostly about babies, pregnancy, and kids, lol. It's nice to be able to join in the discussion, and hear advice and war stories from the other seasoned Moms. Friday, David brought me along to work, where we attended a domestic violence brief. We had to listen to a 911 made by a 6 year old boy who witnessed his mom's ex-boyfriend kill his mom. It was horrifying, and made me thankful that I have such a wonderfully stable marriage, and a supportive, non-abusive husband. Afterward, the guys had the day off, and a bunch of us went bowling. My first game was in the 70's (please, hold your applause), but my second was surprisingly good in the 130's. We then went to Applebee's with Bill, Megan, and baby Chloe. It was a great day with some awesome friends, and it made me wish people would stop moving away!
How the baby is growing this week (according to babycenter.com and the book Great Expectations)
The baby's brain is developing special areas of the brain for all 5 senses. She is touching things in the womb a lot, such as her face and umbilical cord, and may even have a preference for her left or right hand. Loud sounds may be communicated to the baby, and she is becoming covered in a white, waxy substance called vernix caseosa. this protects her skin from becoming all pruny.
Symptoms this week are very few. I am having round ligament pain because my uterus is starting to grow at the rate of 1 centimeter a week. My lower abdomen is also pretty pressure sensitive. I have been tired a lot lately, but it could be because I have been on the go a lot.
I am counting down the days until the big sonogram, and I can't wait to see my baby and have confirmation that she/he is growing well. If the baby is a girl, maybe then David will start talking about baby names with me.
Have a great week everyone!
