I'm doing a little happy dance this week to commemorate the halfway point in my pregnancy! I know i say this every week, but time is flying by. I am actually really enjoying being pregnant, which is a big surprise since I was so miserable the first 3 months. Well, I remember thinking, "Oh Jeez, I am so miserable, why did I ever want to be pregnant???", but looking back I know it really wasn't that bad. This past week has been crazy! We went to a get together on Saturday night where pretty much everyone decided to get trashed. David brought along his jar of birthday Patron that has been sitting on top of the fridge since, well, his birthday. He and Megan destroyed it, and getting David home and out of the car (while our neighbors watched) was pretty hilarious. It was a fun night, and I have noticed that most of the conversations people start with me all deal with babies, pregnancy, and adamant confirmations that David and I are having a girl.
This week at work was insane. Texas and Love traveled to Texas this week, so I was free to work other jobs on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday was the most horrible day of my life. 10 and a half hours, 3 runny noses, 2 barking dogs, and a dirty house make for a horrendous work day. I had to shower when I got home because I felt so dirty. Thinking about it makes me angry all over again.
Thursday I had a dentist appointment, which was pretty routine. It is a practice run entirely by women, so me walking in with a pregnant belly was the highlight of their morning. Afterward, Jen and I went to Chick-fil-A (yum), Kohl's, and then Costco. It was a fun day, and I love hanging out with Jen. She is hilarious.
How the baby is growing this week (according to babycenter.com)
The baby is about the length of a banana this week! She is swallowing more now, and producing a black, sticky substance called meconium. It is a by-product of her digestion, and will most likely be seen in her first diaper (dun dun dun dun). At 20 weeks, babies begin being measured from head to toe instead of crown to rump because her legs are no longer always curled up into her body.
Symptoms this week are... acne! And that is it. Lot's of baby movement, which is becoming more regular at specific times. Mostly in the mid-morning, when I am eating, and around 9 pm when I am laying in bed. the top of my uterus is about even with my belly button, which has started to stretch out a bit. For some reason that is really getting to me. I might have to start mourning the loss of my innie. maybe it will be easier to clean now...
So I thought I would share some of David's paranoid ramblings today. We were laying in bed the other night, and he was trying to feel the baby kick. Out of the blue, he says "What if we are having a girl?". I, of course, said well, yes, we are probably having a girl, but you will love her regardless. I then told him we would just have to try a second time to get a boy, then possibly a third if we ended up with another girl. I thought David was going to poo himself. He has always said that he only wants one child, and the prospect of having even 2 more girls in the house was really not doing it for him. I can't wait to see the look on his face when we find out what sex the baby is next week. Maybe I will bring a camera to document either the intense relief, or crazy freak out...
I am off to Denny's for breakfast with Jen! Have a great week!
